GIVING YOUR HUSBAND GRACE

Updated: Mar 3

If you're married, know that you have joined yourself with an imperfect human being. James, chapter 3:2 reminds us that “We all stumble in many ways.” As such, your husband will disappoint you in many ways, like we have all disappointed God.

GIVE YOUR HUSBAND GRACE TODAY [undeserved favour]. In Christian belief the Oxford Dictionary describes grace as "the free and unmerited favor of God, as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the bestowal of blessings." Giving grace to your husband can be hard, especially when you feel wronged or unappreciated. The wonderful thing is that God continues to extend grace and kindness to us, even when we do not deserve it. In this same manner, as godly wives, we are expected to give grace to our husbands irrespective of the circumstances.

Wife's Notes: Recently our older daughter had a display picture [dp] on her whatsApp profile, which my husband and I considered inappropriate. My husband was the first person who observed the display picture, so he had a discussion with her to remove it. That conversation did not go down well and for the next week I had to play mediator. During this period dialogues were difficult, as my husband was adamant that he handled the situation in the best way and would not relent. I woke up one morning and I just wanted to scream at him, to listen, but the Holy Spirit kept me calm. Later that night I had a dream and got up around 2:00 a.m. and started praying for my husband. God "said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” [2 Corinthians 12:9]. My "weapons of warfare were, grace and prayer, which brought my family closer together.

Dear wives, we are not perfect beings, so we must lean on the PERFECT ONE and depend on HIM to meet our deepest needs. Lord, today, may we see our husbands' imperfections and love them just the same. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." {Proverbs 3:5].
