Heavenly Father so often we look for contentment in material things. Help us to realize that all the contentment that we need is in You. We brought absolutely nothing into this world therefore, when we die, we will take nothing with us [1 Timothy 6:7].
We cannot serve God and our earthly possessions. In St. Matthew 6:24, Jesus said, “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”
To be liberated from the love of this world, we must pursue God wholeheartedly, we must make God the "Centre of our joy". Let us declare like Joshua "that as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD" [Joshua 24:15].
Let's Pray: Dear God, all that I want and need is found in You. Teach me to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness and all other things will be added unto me. You alone oh Lord, can bring me peace and contentment, which can never be found in the pursuits of this world.
